We really enjoyed this Japanese calligraphy experience. The location is close to Ginza and very easy to get to. The instructor was warm and friendly, and guided us patiently through each step. There were many Kanji samples, so we could practice a few with real ink before creating our final works. Writing on a hanging scroll and a fan was a wonderful touch, and we left with beautiful souvenirs and great memories!! Also, tea and Sakura sweets were great!

My husband and I had such a wonderful time learning Japanese calligraphy with Yu! She is warm, welcoming, and an amazing teacher who made the experience both fun and meaningful. Even though we struggled a bit, Yu’s warm and gentle manner made us feel comfortable — and I couldn’t help laughing at my husband struggling like a child with the brush! I’m so glad I found her workshop and could share this hands‑on kanji lesson with my husband. Yu was incredibly kind to spend extra time with us as we could have easily practiced for another hour! Japanese Calligraphy with Yu was an amazing highlight of our trip . I would highly recommend it . Yu was of course very knowledgeable and yet patient with beginners . We ended up creating our names on scrolls . Incredible experience!
We were taught how to do classic Japanese calligraphy. Yu is a great teacher and welcomed us well.
We first practiced a lot and then were given a few items to choose from to write our final word in shodo.
The result was great!
In the end Yu also gave us small presents.
By the way, the view from the studio is also amazing!

I took a class with my daughters who are 8 and 6, Yu found the way to connect with them and my girls liked her and the experience a lot, I always wanted to do it. There were plenty of materials to use for practice and to choose for final symbol. Also lots of stamps which kids enjoyed a lot (maybe too much 😅). I would absolutely recommend it as a personal or family experience.

I took Yu’s Shodo experience in Japan and found it to be very unique and overall a good time. She is a patient teacher and will guide you thru some of the initial techniques before having you do some on your own with her guidance.
